Artificial Reality At Reiman Gardens

Project Description:

Reiman Gardens is looking for a new way to improve the guest experience. Currently, displays at Reiman Gardens are limited to those within the laws of physics. In addition, some displays are only available during specific times of year (tulips, for instance), and some display spaces may have their displays updated over the years. Reiman gardens seeks a way to (A) show time-limited displays throughout the entire year, (B) show previous years' displays even if the display space has been updated, and (C) show non-traditional displays that would be monetarily, biologically, or physically infeasible.

Our solution is to use augmented reality (AR) to supplement the current displays at Reiman Gardens. Augmented reality is the use of computer graphics and sound to augment the real world. Our project will allow guests to use a webapp on their phones to view 3D models in specific predetermined locations. These locations and models can be determined by Reiman Gardens staff without further intervention by our team. These AR models can be made from an active display for preservation, or can be made-from-scratch in programs such as Blender.
