Project Synopsis

Butterfly Longevity

Problem:

Our client, Nathan, is looking for a way to make his research on butterfly longevity more convenient with the use of technology. Currently, Reiman Gardens is still using the traditional way of using a pen and paper to log down the butterflies that they release into the garden and then manually insert the records into a spreadsheet. The whole process of releasing a butterfly is to stick a sticker with an alpha code onto the butterfly wings and then record the butterfly's alpha code, species, and released date.

Solution:

Our project is to make a web application for registering butterflies that are going to be released and keeping track of the butterflies' longevity with the help of the public. Admin will register a new butterfly into the app and then release it to the garden. Docents and Public people will help keep track of the butterfly by inserting the alpha code on the butterfly they saw into the app so that the admin will know that the butterfly is still alive.
